The story of this route
Across about ten stops we meet trees such as the fig, magnolia, beech, pine, fir and bay laurel. First we talk about the tree itself: how it reproduces, where it likes to live, what it does when winter comes. Then we turn to people: food, medicine, craft and, above all, stories.
I keep species names to a minimum and talk at the level of the genus, so things stick. Daphne running from Apollo, the fig's journey across thousands of years, the resin of the pine: every tree has a story to tell. Questions, touching and smelling are all welcome.
